January 4, 2018 -  Announcement by David Goldwasser (Director of the Marisa Fund) Detailing 2017 Turkey Trot Proceeds

David Goldwasser, Turkey Trot Race Director/ Marisa Fund, thanks all volunteers again for their unselfish work and time this past Thanksgiving morning. The Turkey Trot yielded $119,500 in proceeds!

This total does not include the final donations that will come from the Modell’s coupon and the total number of pounds of non-perishable food donated on race day for the People to People food bank (probably well over a 1,000 pounds).  The bulk of this amazing total went to the Marisa Fund and several generous contributions were also made to local charities/non-profits.  Again, all these blessings would not have been possible without the unselfish hard work contributed by our volunteers!

Read the below email excerpt from Dr. Mitchell Cairo regarding some of the great work the Marisa Fund is responsible for in battling the nightmare of pediatric cancer:

"The Marisa fund has been responsible for supporting a new clinical research trial in adolescents and young adults with Hodgkin Lymphoma. ‎The primary aim is to investigate the use of targeted therapy using antibodies and antibody-conjugates and remove toxic chemotherapy and radiation from the treatment to maintain high cure rates and decrease late effects. We have treated 27 patients to date with 100% complete remission and disease free survival and no acute or late effects to date!"
